SAN MATEO, Calif., March 20, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Blameless, the SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) company, today announced that it has raised $20 million in seed and Series A funding from top VC firms Lightspeed Venture Partners and Accel, and strategic investors. The company will use the funding to deliver on the vision of moving technical blame from the individual to the “system,” thereby creating a more productive, effective and “blameless” work environment. Blameless will expand its product suite, grow its engineering and marketing teams, and build out the SRE community, customer and partner base.
“This radical change of moving blame from an individual to a ‘system’ means that engineering teams can correctly address technical debt, meaning innovation is fueled rather than stalled. Business teams can have a productive working relationship, and companies can hire and retain the best and brightest to achieve business goals,” said Lyon Wong, COO and co-founder of Blameless. “SRE is quickly growing into a multi-billion dollar opportunity, and the latest funding validates investor trust in Blameless’s impact during the past year.”
Blameless was created by COO Lyon Wong, a former partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, founder of S28 Capital and a Microsoft Windows PM; and CEO Ashar Rizqi, a former head of core platform at MuleSoft and SRE manager at Box. The two united to solve a real market need for an end-to-end SRE platform, deciding to build the platform themselves from the ground up. The entire Blameless team brings decades of experience from companies including Autodesk, AWS, Box, Hootsuite, Microsoft, MuleSoft, Workday and Yahoo.
“Today’s companies are struggling to innovate quickly while maximizing reliability and delivering an optimal customer experience. You can’t sacrifice one for the other,” said Ashar Rizqi, CEO and co-founder of Blameless. “SRE enables companies to balance the innovation and reliability risks, while maintaining customer trust. We’re honored - and excited - to have Accel and Lightspeed behind us as we enter this important next chapter, allowing engineering and DevOps teams to stay one step ahead of the innovation curve.”
Today, Blameless also emerged from stealth to announce its complete SRE platform, the industry’s only go-to platform for SRE professionals, along with more than 20 enterprise customers, including DigitalOcean, Procore and The Home Depot. Blameless’sSRE platform provides complete transparency into the complex network of APIs and homegrown applications powering companies’ systems. This transparency enables engineering and DevOps teams to resolve incidents faster, prevent issues from happening again, create SLOs and automatically calculate error budgets. Blameless's SRE best practices, built into its platform, empowers teams to focus on innovation while ensuring customer satisfaction.
“In one year, Blameless has built its core product, hired aggressively, attracted a seasoned executive team and board, and landed more than 20 notable enterprise customers in the process. In other words, they’ve made impressive traction in a short amount of time, and it’s just the beginning,” said Ravi Mhatre, partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners. “Blameless is uniquely positioned to help teams go beyond just incident management to managing the complete cycle of site reliability engineering, and Lightspeed is proud to partner with Ashar, Lyon and team as the company continues to rapidly scale.”
“We see firsthand that our best, fastest growing companies view SRE as the cornerstone to delivering great experiences to customers. Blameless is championing the SRE movement and building a complete, secure and compliant enterprise platform for teams,” said Vas Natarajan, partner at Accel. “This team has lived and breathed SRE at some of the top SaaS companies of the last decade. We are incredibly impressed with their momentum as well as their stewardship of this community, and are excited to partner with them to help define and lead this category.”
